The Olympic Torch is coming to Acle on Thursday, 5th July at 8.06 a.m. There will be a rolling road closure in front of the torch, but roads around the Green will be closed from 6.00a.m.
The Olympic Torch will be carried through Acle on 5th July. It will arrive at precisely 08:06 in convoy from Norwich at Norwich Road, when it is hoped that it’s arrival will be
announced by the ringing of the church bells. It will be carried along The Street and out of the village on New Road. It will then travel to Filby in convoy.
The Torchbearers will be:
Roger Hadley, Brian Carr, Shane Hull, and Vicky Simmonds.
A stage will be erected in the car park area next to the Folly tree, and entertainment will be provided from approximately 7.00am. Broadland Brass Band and the Youth orchestra will entertain until late morning. Children from all nine local primary schools
will also be there to perform songs and dance.
An exhibition by High School pupils will be in the Church, and a memories exhibition by the Archive Group will in the Church Hall, where I understand breakfasts will also be served
You are requested not to park in the village centre on the day
