Parish Council Elections – May 2015

Parish Council elections will take place on Thursday, 7th May.

Would you like to stand for election? Are you interested in parish matters and would you like to find out more? Would you like to be part of the decision making body for commenting on local planning applications etc? Would you like to be a voice for your community on Highways, Planning, Environmental and other local issues?

There are 7 spaces on the Parish Council. If 7 or fewer people put themselves forward then everyone will automatically be “elected” on to the Council, without an election. If more than 7 people stand for election, then there will be a vote on 7th May.

Parish Councillors are unpaid volunteers. Training is available. Parish Council meetings are held at 7.30pm on the second Wednesday of the month so you would need to be able to attend most of these evening meetings.

You need to be 18 or over and live within a 3-mile radius of or work in, one of the three villages to be a councillor, and you must be a British subject or an eligible Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of any other member state of the European Union.

Nomination forms need to be delivered by hand to Broadland District Council by 4pm on Thursday, 9th April. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact one of the current parish councillors, or the clerk on 01603 613352, or email [email protected].
